Description:  This Batger's 30-40's Art Deco English Label for "Crackers" Poppers has a Pierrot on it. It says "Musical Toy Crackers".  The Batger Company of England started in 1748 making food products and eventually Christmas Crackers. The crackers had small toys, candies and surprises in them that came out when you pulled the end of it. They also used to contain a small explosive device that made the loud pop!! This is an original label from the Batger's Christmas cracker box made in the 1930's.

Measures 8-3/4" W x 8-3/4" H.  Perfect for framing.

But what are these crackers? A Christmas Cracker is a brightly colored paper tube, twisted at both ends. There is a "banger" inside, when pulled by two people will create a loud snapping "Crack" or "Bang".
When are they used? Crackers are very popular in Englandand accompany many meals over the Christmas period, but especially on Christmas Day. The large formal mid-day meal of Roast Turkey, Roast Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Parsnips and The Christmas Pudding would not be complete without each place setting at the table decorated with a Christmas Cracker!

Condition: Corners and edges are sharp.
