Small amounts of biotin are found naturally in some foods, as well as being produced by the intestinal bacteria. An important nutrient for the body, biotin helps the body convert food into energy, as well as assisting in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and amino acids. Natural sources of Biotin include egg yolk, dairy products, whole grains, legumes, most vegetables and fruit, nuts and nut butters to name but a few.
Because Biotin is water soluble vitamin it can only be stored in the body for a certain amount of time before is excreted in the urine.
This means that the body does not build up reserves of Biotin - it needs to be ingested daily.
