An unbelievable and rare find!
It's always a thrill to discover a wonderfully preserved early textile and this one is just beautiful.
This could be considerably older and probably deserves an expert's inspection. I think the dyes, as well as the design, would be able to tell a lot about it's age and origin.
Tightly woven of 100% wool.
Features a gorgeous, skillfully woven mountain scene and leafed tree with a large, beautifully detailed, colorful, long-tailed bird.
Rare dye features throughout the design. Most likely the dyes used are all natural.
The photos describe this much better than I can. In some cases the photos are over brightened to show detail, but the overall color is bright and original.
Would be beautiful with many color decorating schemes.
Reverse side shows the skill and care the weaver put into this item. Amazing!
Measures an impressive 82" x 47" and is quite heavy.
No holes, no raveling, etc. Nice condition overall considering it's age.
Has "fold marks" from storage. These will relax.
A professional cleaning may brighten it and bring out even more of it's original beauty.
No offensive odor.
This could be exceptional as a wall display and/or piece of art.
It is worthy of a preservation framing, etc.
Looks gorgeous on the bed though!
