This is a set of two antique Meriden Britannia sterling silver (marked) nut or mint dishes. The design is a large, deep flower.  Each dish is 2 3/4 inches in diameter and the height is 1 inch. The bases are signed with the bird maker's mark for Meriden Britannia Company, which began making sterling in 1895, and was absorbed into the International Silver Co. in 1898.  That mark was used until the 1930s.  The dishes are also marked "Sterling" and "443."  Together, they weigh 58 grams.  These nut or mint dishes are in excellent condition.  They are beautiful enough to repurpose them in a way they could be used daily, such as a trinket dish to hold rings on your bureau.
