The Rolls-Royce Armoured Car - Its substance and its place in history (Historical Series No.48, published in partnership with the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club)

This is the long-awaited history of the Rolls-Royce Armoured Car written by the late Lt-Col Eric Barrass, former secretary and president of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club and passionate advocate for all things related to Rolls-Royce motor cars.

Eric often related his own military experience with the Rolls-Royce Armoured car during his many lectures and conversations, to the extent that he was persuaded to write them all down with a view to producing a book. Sadly Eric died before the memoirs could be collated into a volume but thanks to the editing skills of Eliot Levin we are able to share Eric's written work as part of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust Historical Series of books.

The book looks at the issues leading up to the conception of the Armoured Car, including the development of it from the basic Silver Ghost chassis (commandeered from their aristocratic owners) as well as the use to which the cars were put until their final days. The text has a number of appendices as well as a section of photographs, some of which had allegedly been taken with a tiny Kodak camera smuggled to a driver in an armoured car unit in a fruitcake when he was sent to East Africa.

This book was first published in 2016 (288 pages, 80 b/w photographs/illustrations ) by the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club as part of The Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust  Historical Series
