This is a DVD commemorating the life and achievements of the Hon. Charles Stewart Rolls (1877 -1910). CS Rolls was one of the most enigmatic characters of the early 20th Century. His name, of course, is inextricably linked with the company he co-founded with Henry Royce; Rolls-Royce. But Rolls was much more than just a co-director of what turned out to become one of the most famous brand names in the world, but was also a keen cyclist, pioneer motorist, balloon racer and aeroplane pilot. He was the first person to fly non-stop both ways across the English Channel in June 1910, but within a matter of weeks his dearest passion of flying would also claim his life. This DVD charts his achievements and records the celebration of his life in the centenary year after his death at the principal locations linked to his final year of life. It is a story of cars and aeroplanes, events and people, and not least a celebration of a vibrant spirit whose real potential remains an inspiration to the generations of today. With black and white archive footage as well as colour footage from the events of the summer of 2010 and interviews discussing Rolls' life. Running time: 52 minutes.
