For door handles and door knobs that have no spring then its essential that you should consider using an upgraded tubular latch. This is particularly the case when using traditional mortice knobs that have detachable rose plates.

Another area of consideration is the size of tubular latch that you use with a door knob. With a conventional lever handle your hand operates the handle on the opposite side to the door frame so a 3" latch is fine, with a door knob you have to grip the knob all the way round, if the tubular latch is too short you will catch you knuckles on the door surround, therefore I would look at using the 4” version.

The kit that you will receive will have both keepers and mortice plates in chrome and black epoxy finishes with matching wood screws, we have also included a black splinter guard that fits under the keeper, this keeps the appearance of the mortice opening tidy.
