The bracelet is the original bracelet which came on the watch reference 1162. The watch comes fitted with an Omega 980 Cal movement.The case and bracelet show signs of wear but are in great shape given the age of the watch, it is ready to be worn. Unlike all other alarm wristwatches at the time which required the alarm to be re-wound by hand after every use, Omega's Memomatic possessed a self-winding alarm. A significant step forward, it made it easier to go through a series of appointments. Not only was the watch the first of its time to feature a self-winding alarm, it also was the world's first watch the allowed the alarm to be set to the exact minute. If you've ever had a vintage alarm you know what a much needed advancement it was as setting previous alarms was an approximation at best. |
