 The difference between PIPE and TUBE

 Pipe is measured on the inside and Tube is measured on the outside.

 For example;

1” TUBE has an outside diameter of 25.4mm but 1” PIPE has an outside diameter of 33.4mm and an insidediameter of 25.4mm (shed. 40) 

This is because PIPE is designed to carry gas and fluid at a certain flowrate so engineers are only interested in the inside dimension.
