Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide with a wide variety of uses, including as a common food additive. It is a powerful thickening agent, and has uses as a stabilizer to prevent ingredients from separating. Derived from corn sugar, it is soluble in both hot and cold water and is ideal for thickening foods and adding volume to lotions, creams & gels.

Xanthan leaves no aftertaste, is stable in a wide range of temperatures and pH environments, has good freeze thaw stability and provides excellent cling to salad dressings and similar food products. Xanthan possesses excellent suspension properties, gives good mouth-feel to products and is extremely thixotropic by nature.

Gluten-Free Cooking:

Xanthan is a regular ingredient in gluten-free recipes used to bind, thicken and emulsify gluten-free ingredients. If Xanthan Gum or an alternative is not added to gluten-free baked goods, they will not cook properly and become a pile of crumbs. If too much Xanthan Gum is used in a recipe the baked goods will exhibit a slimy texture and feel heavy and even gummy-like.

Gunge / Slime:

Xanthan Gum can be mixed with water to create a bucket of gunge. Add 80 - 130g of Xanthan Gum to 10 Litres of luke warm water and mix with a hand blender for 10 minutes.

The powder is placed inside a grip seal bag and labelled. All parcels are shipped in gold jiffy bags or for larger orders cardboard boxes.

UK Postage:

We will send via Royal Mail 2nd Class. We aim to dispatch these orders every Tuesday & Thursday. Delivery will be up to 3 days from dispatch depending on Royal Mails delivery schedule.

We also offer a 'DPD Next Day' upgrade which is usually dispatched within 24hrs, Monday to Friday. Most deliveries are next day/two days. DPD will email/text you detailed tracking including a 1hr time slot. This service is fully amendable via the DPD app. Select this in your basket.

International Postage:

We ship worldwide! The same packaging rules apply, however for orders outside UK, a customs declaration label / invoice will be attached to the exterior of the package which will include company details, the contents, weight and price.

From February 2021, we will be using ebay's Global Shipping Programme to send international parcels. We will send the parcel to their UK hub and ebay will handle the rest. This will keep the postage price much lower for you :)
