This is a tidy copy of the original UK Mono Beatles Revolver album, with "Tomorrow never
knows" withdrawn mix, matrix and stampers: XEX 605-2 1 AP / XEX 606-1 2 RR, Garrod
& Lofthouse cover, with Dr.Robert on cover and label, KT stamp, Gramophone Co. & Sold
This copy isn't mint, such copies fetching four figures these days, but it's a very nice copy.
The front cover is very clean, one small crease just below where Ringo is sitting on
George Harrisons' head. A little wear to the extreme open edge. Spines are all clean, with
no splits or abrasion. The rear cover has good colour, minor signs of abrasion on the
unlamented black background, no tears, pen marks or similar. Side and bottom flip-backs
are pretty tidy, the top flip-back has some wear towards the open edge. No creases to the
rear cover at all.
Both labels are undamaged, both show several spindle marks, so it's been played quite a
few times. The vinyl surfaces are generally bright and clean, no signs of needle wear or
over-play. Held to the light, you can see a few hairline marks, all of which are superficial,
none of which cause any clicks or pops, none of which you can feel. The play condition
reflects that it has been played, but has been looked after. There's hardly anything to
distract from the music, barely any background, certainly no consistent background
synonymous with bad needles or over-use. No hiss, crackle etc, just very occasional and
very light background.
In summary, this is a really nice copy of the rare first pressing. Not one for a museum, but
an affordable generally clean example with plenty of life left in it. We are critical with our
appraisal, you should be very happy with this one.
