A very rare large Georgian Irish sterling silver mustard pot. It is hallmarked for Dublin 1837 with the maker’s marks being RG for Richard Garde of Broad Lane Cork. It has been beautifully designed being superbly embossed with a grape vine. The lid has been engraved with the crest of the Crosthwaite Family from Dublin which I think were bankers. It is in ok condition for its age and scarcity being free from dings splits and holes, there is a repair to the handle visible inside and a base plate has been added at some time, both early. It still retains its blue glass liner which is in super condition being free from chips cracks and repairs. It is as mentioned a large example measuring approx. 3.75 inches (9.5cms) wide including the handle by approx. 3 inches (7.6cms) tall. It weighs a very impressive 230 grams including the liner and 130 grams excluding it. A very rare example.
