This is an assortment of (mint/used) Wildlife Conservation stamps from 1956-1978.
- 1956 3-cent Wildlife Conservation Stamp (used): The Wildlife Conservation stamps began on May 5, 1956 with the 1st stamp being the 3-cent Wild Turkey in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. The 2nd stamp of this series was the 3-cent Pronghorn Antelope issued on June 22, 1956 in Gunnison, Colorado. The 3rd stamp of this series was the 3-cent King Salmon issued on November 9, 1956 in Seattle, Washington.
- 1957 3-cent Wildlife Conservation Stamp (used): On November 22, 1957, the Whooping Crane was issued in these cities (Corpus Christi, Texas; New York, New York; New Orleans, Louisiana). These cranes almost became extinct, but recovered its population.
- 1970 American Buffalo Wildlife Conservation (used): This 6-cent wildlife conservation stamp was issued on July 20, 1970 in Custer, South Dakota.The North American Buffalo (aka Bison) is one of America’s most familiar national symbols. The buffalo has recovered from almost being extinct with the population now being over 350,000.
- 1971 Wildlife Conservation (mint/used): These 8-cent Wildlife Conservation stamps were issued on June 12, 1971 in Avery Island, Louisiana.The set includes Polar Bear, California Condor, Rainbow Trout and Alligator to bring awareness of the major concern for wildlife conservation.
- 1972 Wildlife Conservation (mint): These 8-cent Wildlife Conservation stamps were issued on September 20, 1972 in Warm Springs, Oregon. The set includes Alaskan Fur Seal, Cardinal, Brown Pelican and Bighorn Sheep to bring awareness of the major concern for wildlife conservation.
- 1978 American Owls (mint): This mint block set of 4 fifteen cent American Owls were issued on August 26, 1978 in Fairbanks, Alaska. The set includes the Great Grey Owl, Saw-whet Owl, the Barred Owl and the Great Horned Owl.
