c. 1972 Vintage, Serial # 7110550 & 1146829 Nikon F2 Photomic and 50mm 1:1.4 SET, DUMMY / DISPLAY MODEL.

 

Cosmetics: AMAZING FIND! 45 YEARS NEW Beauties! This F2 Photomic & standard lens DUMMIES look like this set was hardly ever handled, basically stored without being displayed, and therefore remains in MINT, ALMOST FACTORY FRESH CONDITION, 9.8/10. This beauties come with lens and synch caps, and comes in the VERY RARE INDEED Original DUMMY Matching Box, protected by the older type of green foam packing material (this is the only F2 w/lens shapped foam I have ever seen after decades collecting Nikons).


Mechanics: This F2 Photomic is, from the factory, a non working display model. The body was not even intended to show its film chamber (epoxy resin is present to the open-close latch / key, but it got loose over the years so you can check it out now). Among some characteristics to this camera and lens, I realized about the following:

  • The film advance lever moves all the way but there are no inner mechanics involved. Camera had a canceled film chamber (some epoxy resin) but, after all of these years, the open latch freed and, therefore, you are now able to open the camera's back to realize that all of the visible inner parts are correct to the era. And you can see that there's some thick clear tape protecting the film rails and the black enamel areas besides the perfect shutter curtain. There's no light seal to the back, and the film pressure plate is not present. The aperture and rewind knobs move freely.
  • The Photomic finder does not have some inner parts, including the glass prism.
  • The lens, fixed to the body, does not have a diaphragm and I think that only the front element is present. Aperture was set 1:5.6 (fixed) and the focusing ring, fixed as well, is set to infinite so the lens displays both more colorful and larger).
  • The curious round "o" Nikon apron (unlike later ones, featuring flat lettering), hardly ever seen or even known by most F2 fans, is present, in perfect condition and free of bright lines.


DUMMY CAMERAS were not sold to general public but offered to dealers, for DISPLAY purposes, in limited numbers. Most were heavily handled. Finding one in the original box might be a once in life opportunity.


IMPOSSIBLE to find another one in such conditions, pretty rare, special and very collectible Nikon F2 35mm SLR Camera Body.
