Thorium Rod This rod is composed of 98% tungsten and 2% thorium. It measures 7" long and approximately 1/8" in diameter. Its cylindrical shape and size are great for experiments. This has a beta + gamma reading of 158 CPM on my instrument (my background is 24 CPM). Your reading will vary depending on type and tube size. Gamma-only reading is 22 uR/hr on a PM1703M (12 uR/hr background). Useful for honing your detection skills, practicing statistical analysis (see graph below), and adding a cool (hot!) item for your collection. They are just plain neat to hold in your hand. This will be shipped in compliance with the rules of USPS Publication 52 and 49 CFR 173.424.
