Welcome To The Antique Cabinet
For your consideration is a rare, Royal Doulton, Titanian Ware, ‘Young Magpie’ Vase by F. Henri, circa 1915-1922.
The unique Titanian glaze was developed using titanium
oxide which resulted in a wide range of grey to blue colors. After years of
experimentation, Titanian Ware was launched by Charles Noke in 1915 with
production lasting only into the 1920’s, making the pieces relatively rare
today due to their fragility and short production.
This wonderful piece was hand painted by F. Henri, one of the most admired
Burslem artists during his era. He was a very versatile artist and
excelled particularly in bird studies, especially on Titanian Ware.
The vase has cloudy blue-grey coloring and beautifully
decorated with two young magpies sitting in a naturalistic
habitat with glowing sun in the background. It is artist signed F. Henri on the front of the vase with
the Royal Doulton factory stamp on the underside used between 1902 and 1922. It
measures approx. 5½" tall x 4½ " at widest.
The vase is in excellent condition having no chips,
cracks or repairs and minimal wear-does have some light age-related
crazing.
A truly enchanting piece!
