Edible parts of Decaisnea Fargesii: 

Fruit- raw. A yellow pod about 8 cm long, it is filled with a white juicy pulp that is very sweet, refreshing and pleasant to eat.

Theseeds are used for oil and the skin of the fruit can be used to make rubber.

Theplants are successfully grown in cooler temperate climates, and in fertile,well-drained soil. They are tolerant of temperatures as low as −15 °C (5 °F).

Propagation: Seed- best sown as soon as it is ripe in a cold frame, it then usuallygerminates freely in early spring. Sow stored seed in February ina greenhouse. This usually germinates well, within 1 - 3 months at 18degree. Prick out the seedlings into individual pots as soonas they are large enough to handle and grow them on under protection for theirfirst winter. Plant out in late spring after the last expected frosts.Cuttings.

Decaisnea has long, pinnate leaves, towards the end of stout branches, and long strings of greenish-yellow flowers. Individual plants are monoecious (separate male and female flowers on the same plant), with each flower lacking petals.
