IDC (Insulation displacement connector)

Polarised Header Plug

They have a cut out notch in the centre of the plug body to receive the ‘bump’ on the mating socket – this ensures they can only be mated one way. If your socket has no ‘bump’ it will still mate with this plug, but care should be taken to ensure correct polarity is maintained .

Unusually these are a ribbon cable mounting shrouded PLUG (sockets are normally mounted on ribbon cable) they also have mounting lugs to fix them to a chassis or panel, these can be ignored if you require the plug to be free cable mounted.

The Connector has square profile gold plated pins within the the boxed mating section and tin plated pins below designed for IDC connection.
