Up for sale, I have a very rare and hard to find Italian ca. 1928-1930 Majolica pottery 18 pieces (including two lids) tea set made by famous ILARIO CIAURRO of Italy. This beautiful set was made in Orvieto, Italy, in the caves, where his studio was located. Now, there is a archeological work still pending. As you can see the set is very beautifully decorated, every one piece has different design. This whole set is in very good condition. The teapot is 4 1/2" in height and 7" wide (including handle and spout), the jug is about 4" tall, sugar bowl is 3 1/2" tall and 4" wide, and the creamer? is about 2 1/2" tall. All tea cups are 1 1/2" in height and 4" wide (5" wide with handle). The saucers are 5 3/4" wide. There is a few chips, as you can see in photos. The biggest chip (9/16"x3/8") is on sugar bowl (almost under edge). Tea pot has chip on the side and couple minor flea bites on the spout. All plates are in very good condition according to it's age. One plate has one fle bite in enamel and minor chip (missing enamel on the edge) There is some minor bites to the glaze on the edge or handles. It is hard to notice since whole set is painted in beautiful colorful designs. Please check all photos, as they are part of description. This set was made about decade before WWII, so even with the chips the set is in excellent looking condition. It is impassible to find whole set, especially in good conditon. Last three photos shows major chips, described above, but I think it is repairable. The color is off white with teal-green, and black color. This is something that is very rare. This is magnificent and very important chunk of Italian history. Please ask questions before purchase.
Good luck and thank you for looking.
