This
is a complete HID kit containing everything you should need to give
your car HID lighting. These HID kits give out at least 300% more
light, giving you much improved visibility at night. Our HID kits are
super high quality kits, explained in detail below. Specifications:
These
bulbs will give your vehicle a cleaner more modern look, with a nice
white light. This will also contribute to improved safety due to
increased visibility. The improved brightness makes them very popular dipped beam and fog lights. |
Canbus
Just because you buy a
Canbus HID kit, does not automatically mean it will work in your Canbus
car. Cheaper older canbus kits such as Canbus-Pro kits do not work in
modern more advanced canbus cars.
These HID kits are using the latest Canbus technology. We have personally fitted these to the most fussy of cars, such as the new Astra, BMW E90's, most new Audi's, Mercedes S-Class's and the list goes on. We have never fitted these into a car and had issues with bulb failure warnings on the dash board. Audi
wiper motor problem?
If you’re not
fitting these to an Audi, this does not apply to you and you can skip
past this. If you are fitting these to an Audi please pay attention.
You may have heard about Audi's (normally A3's) having an issue with
the wiper motor after HID's being fitted (common discussion on forums).
The problem is that the headlights and wiper motors share a common
ground. This causes your wiper motor to burn out. These kits are the
only kits on the market to be tested against this problem. We have
fitted these kits to dozens of Audi A3's without a single issue. This
problem can also occur in other Audi's but is most common in the A3.
The Bulbs The bulbs included in these kits are the best quality on the market today. A lot of time went into researching which bulbs we were going to use in these kits. We buy our ballasts from one supplier who do very good ballasts, and our bulbs from a different supplier who offer better quality bulbs. We then make the kits up, we don’t just bulk order kits from one supplier like most companies. It therefor goes without
saying that the bulbs we use are metal base bulbs rather than cheap
plastic ones. A lot of people think the comparison of bulbs stops
there, when in fact this is far from the truth. There is a lot more to
consider other than just metal or plastic base. There is salt content,
electrode material, type of salt, and the list goes on.
Salt
Yes your HID bulb has
salt in it. The salt is the heart of your bulb and is used as fuel
essentially. The air gap between the cathode and anode, and the firing
voltage to excite the salts. Well this is what makes the bulbs tick.
The less salt in the chamber, the less salt vapour and the plasma is
more unpredictable generally producing more heat and less light output.
This makes these bulbs run hotter and unevenly.
Electrodes
The electrodes of
genuine high quality bulbs are made from thoriated tungsten. A long
time ago when microwaves were new technology, thoriated tungsten
electrodes were introduced as an alternative to the use of pure
tungsten electrodes. 1-2% of the electrodes are made up of thorium
dioxide (ThO2) which makes the bulb last longer because the electrode
is more robust.
Cheap bulbs generally
are made of pure tungsten which is super cheap. It erodes quickly, and
the bulb life is short. It also stresses what little salts are in there
and the output can be "wavy" or inconsistent over temperature and/or
time. In general the luminous output is also less with a tungsten
filament because more of the current flowing through the filament is
transferred to heat versus being used to arc the salts (making more
light).
Colour We stock a range of
temperatures to choose from. If the bulbs in your car came with the car
from new they will be 4300k this is what most cars with Xenons come
from factory with. You can change the temperature (colour) by changing
the bulbs. Please bare in mind that the higher the temperature you go,
the less light you will get, a lot of people think this is the other
way around. Below is a chart to be used as a comparison of colour. Please
say at checkout which colour you require.
The Ballasts These are ultra slim ballasts, sizes shown below. Power These kits have a proven power output of minimum 35w (35-38w). Often cheaper kits on the market only produce a power output of 28-32w. This means they will be the actual brightness they are meant to be, and the brightness you are paying for. You can see below a ballast been tested for actual power output. Heat Resistant These kits have been thoroughly tested against heat. Usually come winter time many people find themselves without lights, which is probably the time of year when you most need them. These kits will perform no matter what the conditions outside are! Waterproof These kits are IP68 waterproof. This means they can be used confidently in places that might usually get quite wet, such as fog lights. However the kits are waterproof, please note that if the bulb gets web after being at full temperature then they will most likely shatter, as you would expect from any hot bulb getting wet. They were submerged then turned on in the picture below. Ignition How a HID bulb works is the arc across 2 electrodes, this is what makes them so bright. However to do this, on start up there must be a very high voltage to create the arc. If there is not enough voltage, the light wont arc and therefor won’t light up. If you have experienced kits where you have to turn them off and on a few times to come on, this is because there is not enough power to create the arc (normally only 16-18kv). These kits have been proven to have more than enough voltage to start first time, every time!
