The Movie "Le Mans" & its Race Car Transporters

If Steve McQueen did not become an accomplished Actor, he would have been a full time professional Race Car Driver! Still, and to a large extent he was both! He loved cars, and he raced them against the best professional racing drivers... Watching his movie "Le Mans", one can't help but notice the racing environment Steve McQueen had created. It wasn't just the racing, or the accidents. It also was the pits, pad and paddock, the drivers, their personalities, their issues, and a hint of romance. Even if you've never been to Le Mans, you got a very good idea how everything or anything worked during these 24 grueling hours of racing, and the hours that preceded them!... So, Steve McQueen had racing in his blood. For the movie, he tried to put together some Race Car Transporters for his Pad & Paddock scenes. The FERRARI Transporter (shown, but not offered here) was one of the obvious one we see in the movie, having transported the Long Tail Ferrari 512 S racing cars. This said, the same ex-Scarab, ex-Shelby American, ex-Woolfe Racing, ex-Piper Attwood, etc. transporter was purchased by the Film Industry and painted in different colors and livery -- Thus, also creating The RENAULT-MIRAGE Transporter in this collection (offered here). Unfortunately, its presence was removed on the editing floor from the film footage!... The Renault-Mirage version was also the last once painted in that livery for the movie. Somehow, it ended-up in Arizona, purchased by a US Collector... What we have on offer here is a true and rare piece of Hollywood History!
