2006 1C Lincoln NGC MS65RD Mint Error 5% Off Center Super Rare! - RicksCafeAmerican.com

2006 1C Lincoln 5% Off Set Mint Error Super Rare! RicksCafeAmerican.com

This is a EXTREMELY RARE DATE FOR ERRORS & they are seldom seem up for auction.

Here is a VERY RARE FIND! Most error coins were caught at the U.S. Mint prior to 2002, and never got into circulation, but because soo many coins were minted, they could not find them all and many worked their way into public hands.  Of the dates that you see offsets few are witnessed for the year 2005 or 2006 - and more importantly, few if any find their way to the market.  Not to mention that this coin is graded at MS65RD which alone would be valuable, but to have a Lincoln penny Offset Error with this grade, well, you get the idea...

Off Center Coin

An off center coin is produced when the coin is struck once, albeit off center. Unlike a broadstrike, the punch of an off center coin is not in the center of the coin, but rather the edge. This results in a coin which is not circular.

The coin gives a freakish appearance as a result, and various amounts of blank planchet space are visible. The coins can vary in value because of how far off center they are struck, although coins with full dates are more desirable than coins without a date or missing digits.

An off center coin is one of the most common and best known types of errors. This happens when a blank which is supposed to be fed into the press, lands in the collar improperly. When this occurs only part of the blank is between the upper and lower dies. When the dies strike the blank, only that part will be struck with a design.
