This plug-n-play harness simply plugs into the
factory harness connector and then onto the new fast reacting sensor. The sensor
connector is a quick disconnect should you need to remove the intake
manifold and want to unplug the sensor easily. This auction is for the harness itself. If you need the harness and sensor together, check my other auctions for the combo.
The fast reacting air temp sensor threads into the stock location of the FD RX-7 upper intake manifold and has an open element design so that it reports temp changes to the ECU as quickly as possible. The factory air temp sensor on the 93-5 RX-7 is a solid metal design and reacts very very slowly. The factory sensor also suffers from heat soak due to its closed design, which means that after you drive and park the car, the sensor gets very hot as the engine sits there baking, and it takes a very long time for the factory sensor to report the temp changes as you start to drive again.
If you have a PowerFC with commander (or another standalone ECU with sensor display) and the new fast sensor, you will be able to see the temp changes much faster than before. If you have the new sensor and water/meth injection, you will see the temps drop immediately after the injection engages, which is very neat and a good way to know your injection is working.
