About Lassie Corbett

Lassie Corbett is a well-known artist living and teaching in Reston, Virginia. She has travelled, studied, painted, and taught workshops throughout the world.  She has a Masters in Fine Arts from American University, a four year teaching certificate in oriental brush painting from the Chinese Art Guild in Manila, Philippines, and a B.S. in education from Murray State University.  She continues refining her art knowledge and skills through annual workshops under nationally renowned artists.

Besides teaching thousands of art students in the Reston/Herndon area of Virginia, Lassie has taught workshops in Bermuda, Turkey, Nepal, Greece, Mexico, Ireland, France, Spain, Hawaii, and other locales in the United States. One such workshop took her students trekking Through the Himalayas and riding elephants.  She as traveled yearly around the world, always with her sketch book/journal, large tracing paper for detailed drawings, and a camera for color reference when she translates the drawings and sketches into paintings.

She works in and teaches traditional and abstract acrylics, collage, Chinese brush painting, and watercolor.  Her works are primarily traditional, transparent watercolors.  They appear in three books:  The Creative Edge, by nationally-known artist Mary Todd Beam, The Potomac Valley Watercolorist, a juried watercolor organization, and His Legacy, Our Heritage, Professor Chen Bing Sun, a master Chinese brush painter and Lassie?s teacher in the Philippines. She exhibits regularly at various "Art in the Workplace" exhibits, the Vienna Arts Society, and at the Reston Art Gallery.

Lassie belongs to several art groups, and served on the Council for the Arts of Herndon, Virginia. She is a signature member of the Potomac Valley Watercolor Society as well as the Virginia Watercolor Society, She is also affiliated with the Reston Art Gallery, League of Reston Artists, Fairfax Council for the Arts, Vienna Arts Center, American Watercolor Society, and is gallery owner of A Place to Paint.

She has won numerous awards, been accepted into juried art shows, and had work featured in many special exhibits.
