Map of Austria by Matthaus Seutter and Conrad Lotter 1744

Copper engraved map on thick hand laid paper with later hand colouring.

Matthaus Seutter (1678 - 1756) was a German publisher and engraver in Augsburg.  Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717-77) was apprenticed to Seutter and engraved many of his Master's maps. He married Seutter's daughter and eventually set up his own business in Augsburg, but continued to collaborate with Seutter. The maps by Seutter and Lotter are finely engraved and known for their ornate decoration.  This map was probably published in 'Atlas Minor' in 1744.
