Featured is an Art Deco brooch with three turquoise stones by Maurice Hollywood, signed. The jewelry is in very good shape for an item made in the 1940's - a collector's find of quality construction, scarcity of jewelry and present-day preserved condition. This designer made costume jewelry for a short stint in the 40's mostly for the movies. The finish used on this piece likens the color of the metal work of Joseff of Hollywood's jewelry, as this type of finish reflected little glare under studio lights. On this piece, there are some light surface discoloration specks, and a discolored spot near the middle set turquoise stone. The turquoise pieces are securely mounted; the stones have no chips. Some images were taken with a ruler to give a visual idea as to the jewelry's size. The brooch is large measuring 4 inches long and and 1 1/2 inches wide. The hardware shows an older clasp roll and needle pin extension. It has a very slight bent needle that is fully functional for opening and closing.  The piece can be alternatively worn both vertically and horizontally as shown in images.
