Turkish Siirt Blankets:
Turkish Handmade Siirt Wool blankets are warm, first-rate gifts for a lover of natural textiles. For centuries, Central Asia's semi-nomadic Yoruk tribes have woven Siirt blankets entirely by hand, using basic looms and mohair wool from their herds of Angora goats. The interesting geometric patterns in a Siirt blanket's nap are created when the weaver vigorously hand-brushes her finished product. Unlike most wools, mohair has a perfectly smooth shaft to which soil does not readily adhere. So mohair Siirt blankets stay clean longer than other wool weavings, and simply shaking them out will usually dislodge most dust and dander. Siirt blankets come in a variety of sizes and natural wool colors, and are ideal for use as lap rugs, throws, bedspreads, or scatter rugs. Durable and versatile; dry clean or delicate-washable.
