DESCRIPTION: Here is a  mid 19th century Graingers Worcester porcelain jug. Decorated on a dark green ground. hand painted and some transfer with Greek figures on each side. The figure holding the owl is Athena  the Greek goddess of wisdom and war. The other figure is the Greek god Apollo the god of hearing. The handle has a top terminal of moulded flowers and berries and the bottom terminal moulded with leaves and berries and having gilt decoration. Below the pouring lip there is a moulded leaf and berry decoration. The jug is gilt lined to the top rim and to the foot. Marked to the base with puce painted Grainger Worcester. This pattern was not used very much by the Grainger factory.

SIZE:  The jug measure 6 3/4 inches high. Weighs 446 g before packing.

CONDITION:   The jug has no chips cracks or restoration. For accuracy there is minor gilt ware to the top rim of the jug and some light scratching to the body but nothing serious. Otherwise in very good condition.
