Black ROYAL Varsity Portable Typewriter with Case ~ serial number D 114557 ~ vintage circa 1940's

Good working condition (needs a new ribbon as current one is almost dried out).

The case is solid, but has some wear...there is also a locking latch/lock, but no key.

Black crinkle finish enamel is in good condition with chrome trim.

Glass key tops with nickle bands.....the letter O striking rod is not sitting down fully with the other letters after typing.
There is a £ sign in this key board, most examples I've seen have a Dollar sign.

My research leads me to believe this is approx. 1940's.
