Recently just picked up a few different "ANTIQUE FEEDSACK QUILT TOPS" that I am listing. All of these quilt tops were made by the "SAME ELDERLY LADY" from Lookout Mountain, TN. These quilt tops haven't ever been laundered after they were made, and never completed into quilts with the backing. All of the quilt tops were 100% HANDSTITCHED when they were made. All of them have bits and pieces of "NEWSPAPER" attached to the original stitching on the backsides of the quilt tops. I haven't ever seen this before and I am hoping that you regular quilters out there would help to clue me in as to why this quilter did this back in the day. I was assuming it was to give her a "sturdiness" when hand stitching this entire beauty. If I had to guess.....I would say that 75-90% of the fabric used is all feedsacks.....there are a few pieces of scrap here and there that I know aren't feedsacks. I am very familiar with lots of the patterns that I have taken pictures of, and I am sure you will be also if you are familiar with them. There are NO HOLES or RIPS in any of these quilt tops, and only a tea-stain or two here and there from aging. All of them have some "loose" stitching on the top side of the quilt top, and I believe the thickness of this thread is mostly from the feedsacks that were taken apart to make the quilt. I also think she used that thread to create these tops, which I know is common.

PICTURES are the BEST part of the description of any item that you are purchasing on the internet, that is the reason I try to provide so many. Payment must be recieved via Paypal within (7) days of auction's ending, or the winning bidder will be considered "late" in making payment. As recommended by the NEW Ebay policy, on the (4)th day, if payment has not yet been received, an unpaid item claim with Ebay will be filed; although, you still have the FULL (7) days to make payment. This is what Ebay considers a "friendly reminder" to make the payment by the (7)th day and there isn't any strikes against the winning bidder for having this done. We sell a lot of vintage pieces and they will have wear consistent with age and being previously worn or used. Vintage items are RARE and UNIQUE to the era that they are from, and not reproductions that are out there today. I always include alot of pictures for detailed inspection by you....PLEASE look carefully at what you are bidding on. You will receive EXACTLY what is pictured.
Returns will only be accepted if there has been an oversight by myself in the items description or measurements due to human error. All of the measurements are given and must be checked by the potential buyer and compared to something you currently own that fits you, if this is not done, this is NOT an acceptable reason for return and the return will NOT be accepted. Contact must be made by the buyer within (3) days of receipt of the item and must be mailed back by day (7) in the original condition and box from which it was received. Customer satisfaction is a priority and will be met if all is followed. |
