MicroSPI - MicroSD Card based Solid State Floppy Disk Drive Jukebox
for the BBC Micro Model B, B+, and Master 128
With 2GB MicroSD Card and STH Games Archive

This is a Buy-It-Now sale, for a new RetroClinic MicroSPI solid state floppy drive jukebox kit, complete with MicroSD Card, preloaded with the popular Stairway To Hell Games Archive, complete with menu driven front end.

This miniature device takes a MicroSD storage card, and acts as a solid state floppy disk drive, allowing up to 511 single sided disk images to be placed on one card, and then selected and loaded by a few simple commands.

This kit contains everything you need to set up your MicroSPI Floppy jukebox and start playing all those retro games of the past on your BBC Micro. Once you've got the hang of using the kit, you can go on to manipulate the floppy disks in your image using a program called MMB IMAGER. This also allows you to write programs and save them to the MicroSD card, then extract those images out on a PC.

The supplied ROM will need to be installed in your machine. It's possible to also run the filing system from Sideways RAM if you have it.

I also sell this kit without the MicroSD card, should you have a supply of your own you'd prefer to use, please see my other listings.

There are several designs of this type of storage unit on the market, but this one has to be not only the smallest and most compact, but also the most cost effective single board design. There are no flying cables, and no mounts needed, it simply sits underneath, plugged into the User Port of your machine. It also takes regular modern MicroSD cards, no need to hunt for obsolete MMC cards and readers. Other filing systems have been made available for this type of storage device, such as MMFS. Again, please Google these terms for more info.

In this sale you are buying the RetroClinic MicroSPI PCB, with factory assembled surface mount components, fully tested, the Smart SPI ROM, and a 2GB MicroSD Card as pictured in the first two photos. The software on the card is given free, and is downloadable from my own website, and numerous other sites across the net. The other photos show how it looks plugged in underneath a BBC Micro and a Master 128, and an example of it running the Stairway to Hell archive MMB file. You also get an introductory leaflet covering the installation and explaining the basics of the system.
