2007 $5 Silver Proof Coin – SOUTH AUSTRALIA – 150th Anniversary of State Government

From its origins as a colonial administrative body, the South Australian Legislative Council joined with a newly created House of Assembly to inaugurate responsible government in the colony. The new Parliament first met on 22 April 1857. This proof quality coin celebrates the 150th anniversary of that event. Struck in fine silver, the coin is one of a series commemorating milestones in Australian State Government.
