A rare antique Delft faience presentier sweetmeat double dish with handle. This 18th-Century presentier (which is translated to present or to offer) is hand molded and hand painted with a delicate geometric pattern and double border.   It was used for serving sweetmeats at the end of the meal. Sweetmeats were small shaped pieces of confectionery consisting chiefly of sugar or chocolate with flavoring or filling.  We have found only one other dish like this in all of our years of buying.  We have 3 of these available, see last photo.

Delft faience is a tin glazed earthenware that was made to imitate and compete with the Chinese ceramics coming to the West via the East India Company in the 18th - 19th centuries. These wares were high coveted then and are have become very collectible today.
