DESCRIPTION:
This very nice late 19th to early 20th century American antique Victorian compound interior hinged double reservoir decorated wood pencil/pen box, with decal images of two young Victorian girls, is most likely a school accessory and was used by young female students. The decorated wooden slide lid is original to the box. The interior is unusual in that it consists of a hinged assembly containing not one but two levels, each machine routered out to hold various writing instruments, such as pens and pencils. The wood slide lid has a shallow, drilled finger pull slot to pull the wooden lid away from the body of the box. It was clearly used and understandably used quite often, even on a daily basis by its former young owner. These antique American wood pencil boxes were omnipresent in early America, as pens and pencils were somewhat expensive, to be guarded and cared for. The wood box, lid and interior levels are intact and without cracks, corner loss or repairs, old or new.  A splendid antique American Victorian pencil box that's incredibly, nearly 100-115 years old. Magnificent.

 CONDITION:
Fair to Good overall antique condition. The contents inside the pencil box are not included. With old hand writing in pencil inside and at the bottom of the box from the first or previous owner of this pencil case, most likely a young American student from New England.
