L'Atollo, da molti anni ormai, non è più una lampada o meglio non è solo una lampada.
È un mito, è un'icona: uno dei simboli più accettati nel mondo del design, uno dei pochissimi prodotti che tutti riconoscono e chiamano per nome. Disegnata da Vico Magistretti nel 1977, nel 1979 vince il Compasso d'Oro e da allora entra a far parte delle collezioni permanenti dei maggiori musei di design, ma entra anche a far parte dell'arredamento di moltissime case, abitate da persone che amano e sanno scegliere le cose che le circondano.
Il segreto consiste probabilmente nella costruzione geometrica delle sue forme: il cono sul cilindro e sopra a tutto la semisfera. Scultura luminosa cui nulla è possibile togliere, nulla è possibile aggiungere. E che è impossibile imitare.

The secret probably consists in the geometric construction of its forms: the cone on the cylinder and above all the hemisphere. Luminous sculpture which nothing can be removed, nothing can be added. And that it is impossible to imitate.
