Stereo Compressor Limiter Clipper for FM Broadcast Transmitter. High quality.

Limiters are devices that weaken loud sounds and intensify quiet sounds in broadcasting. The signal at the output of these devices is at a constant level. This circuit module performs perfectly the same function of professional limiter devices for FM broadcasting. This circuit provides a serious improvement in signal quality. This limiter circuit module helps to improve broadcast quality towards professional FM broadcasting level.

The on-circuit signal clipper unit allows the signal level to be increased without saturation. It is also very convenient to use because there is a pre-emphasis unit with 50us (EU) or 75us (USA) option on the circuit.

If there is no such device or circuit in your broadcasting system, you should definitely try this limiter circuit. You will be surprised and satisfied with its quality and efficiency. You can improve your broadcast quality one step further by using this limiter circuit module with Stereo Encoder.

  • Output Impedance: 0.5k,
  • Dimensions: 80 x 80 x 17mm
  • The circuit can be used for both mono and stereo broadcasting.
  • This limiter circuit must be connected just after the sound source. Recommended usage: Limiter Module -> Stereo Encoder -> Transmitter, or Limiter Module → Transmitter.
  • JP1 is pre-emphasis. Plug jumper to pins for activating pre-emphasis. This is recommended. Note: If there is pre-emphasis on the transmitter or stereo encoder you are using, turn it off. Only use the pre-emphasis function on this circuit.
  • Attack time and Release time is the time constant for compressor and limiter. Attack time should be as small as possible. Release time sets the signal processing intensity.
  •  Clipping and HF Clipping: Allows the signal level to be increased as much as possible without saturation. The tuning procedure is as follows: 1) Set the HF clipping to the middle, set the Clipping closely below clipping level of low frequencies (1 kHz and lower). 2) Adjust HF clipping on a common program content. Check the sibilancy (hiss) reproduction - no distortion should be audible. The more clipping the more signal loudness.
  • Input level: If set right, background sound (noise, hum) present in original signal is not amplified and clipping is working on all common program content.
