Volcanic Lava rock is an excellent biological filter media commonly used for water filtration in aquarium and ponds

Volcanic Lava rock has a large service area and is a perfect media for the growth of healthy bacteria

Once healthy bacteria has formed the bacteria is effective in the removal of ammonia and nitrates and helps to stabilise PH readings creating a balanced biological balance with your pond or aquarium helping to keep the water clear.

Please note prior to use the media will require rinsing to remove small debris. Once the media is in use ensure you only rinse with water from the aquarium. Rinsing with water from another source would kill the healthy bacteria  meaning it would have to be re grown.
