Good antique french violin, school of Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mezin made circa 1900.

Good antique french violin made by a maker in the circle of Collin-Mezin in Mirecourt circa 1900. 

The top is made of two pieces of spruce, and shows regular grain lines widening towards the edges. The back is made of a single piece of highly flamed maple, the curl descending from the left to the right. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The varnish is of an orange-brown color, and entirely original.

The violin is in a perfect and immediate playing condition.

The violin has been revised in our workshop, including a new bridge, a new chinrest, a new tailpiece and a new set of Thomastik Dominant strings. The pegs are original. 

The instrument comes with a new case.

Body length : 355 mm. 

Upper bouts : 170 mm.

Middle bouts : 115 mm.

Lower bouts : 211 mm.

The violin has a fantastic deep and warm round sound, with a lot of power and projection, and is responsive and easy to play. A fine concert violin that will allow you the most complete repertory.
