Banana Leaf was developed from the original Orinoco type tobaccos, and is the oldest bright leaf variety known. It was the first of the many Virginian type bright leafs developed, and grows to 7+ feet or more in height. It produces a narrow pointed leaf over 30" long and 14" to 16" wide. It matures in 55-60 days and gives good yields, with leaves ripening about 2 weeks after flowering. Used for cigarettes and pipes. USDA plant identifier number PI 552298.
