The inlay pens are constructed from a laser cut collection of parts, assembled together as if creating a 3D jigsaw puzzle. Some inlay kits will take over two hours to assemble! Once assembled, the pen making will now begin. A single tube chrome finish pen, allows for both an attractive piece as well as a pleasure to use. The blank, grasped smoothly within your hand while providing you with a very comfortable grip. After assembling the numerous wooden parts onto a pen tube, it is turned, tung oil is applied (brings out the color and grain), it is then encased in a resin, turned again on a lathe, finally, polished to a crystal clear coating... bringing out a smooth, glossy and protective finish, creating a beautiful pen.

Beware of pens for sale which have a simple lacquer or wax finish which will within a short time wear off. The simple act of using a pen in combination of your own natural skin oils will wear away these finishes. Acrylic or wooden with an acrylic finish pens are immune to such actions, my pens will provide you with years of beauty and shine. In most cases, these pens may even be disassembled, re-polished then reassembled.
Many online pen sellers are novices which do not truly appreciate the finer aspects of pen turning. Instrumental in the transition between the metal components and the pen body. Keep in mind that this is a hand instrument, you will hold it within your fingertip. As such, without smooth transitions, each and every time you hold the pen in your grip, you will be reminded how the edges are sharp or misaligned. I believe you would be frustrated on your purchase with each daily reminder.
Additionally, pens with wood blanks should be stabilized or cured, then have a protective coating applied. Many sellers simply apply a buff wax or lacquer spray upon their pens, which in the short run looks nice, however in a short time, the buff will wear off, leaving you with very visible wear areas. Whether it be a tung oil or acrylic finish, wood pens should have a protective finish, otherwise that "new" look will be lost in a short time.

As with any handmade item you should know a bit about the craftsman. I have been an avid woodsmith for over two decades concentrating on fine joinery and finishes.
