My designs are NOT a printed sticker but a real connection to our history and values as depicted by stamps issued by the United States Postal Service. The process in creating this pen is extensive and precise.  Once the blank is turned to the precise diameters; using a micrometer in matching the blank, I then proceed to the final step of sanding and polishing.  A process which unlike others, I WILL NOT take shortcuts; this allows for a glass smooth finish which covers the entire body of the blank.  This technique, one that takes over 5 hours to accomplish, is more extensive and time consuming, presents a strong and crystal-clear finish as well as providing a protective shell.

This pen has an elegant profile, superb balance, and smooth action. With a chrome metal finish and black accents, they combine to present a contrasting design.  This pen has a relief scroll near the top, complimented with a matching center band and curved clip. The body and cap has a chrome  metal finish, for a striking and very hardy finish, one that will last for years and resist scratches.  Using a standard Parker style ballpoint or gel pen refill, your writing will be smooth and effortless.

Beware of pens for sale which have a simple lacquer or wax finish which will within a short time wear off.  The simple act of using a pen in combination of your own natural skin oils will wear away these finishes.  Acrylic or wooden with an acrylic finish pens are immune to such actions, my pens will provide you with years of beauty and shine.  In most cases, these pens may even be disassembled, re-polished then reassembled. 

Many online pen sellers are novices which do not truly appreciate the finer aspects of pen turning. For instance, it is instrumental that the transition between the metal components and the pen body be a smooth and aligning connection. Keep in mind that as a hand instrument, you will hold it within your fingertips. As such, without smooth transitions, each and every time you hold the pen in your grip, you will be reminded how the edges are sharp or misaligned. I believe you would be frustrated on your purchase with each daily reminder.

Additionally, pens with wood blanks should be stabilized or cured, then have a protective coating applied. Many sellers simply apply a buff wax or lacquer spray upon their pens, which in the short run looks nice, however in a short time, the buff will wear off, leaving you with very visible wear areas. Whether it be a tung oil or acrylic finish, wood pens should have a protective finish, otherwise that "new" look will be lost in a short time.

As with any handmade item you should know a bit about the craftsman.  I have been an avid woodsmith for over two decades concentrating on fine joinery and finishes.  In 2006 I studied penmaking with an appreciation for smooth transition of the body and metal components, unique and custom finishes, as well as the finer aspects of pen making.

In 2008 I began teaching basic penmaking to fellow military members emphasizing the finer aspects such as the finish, curvature and lines as well as the transition from the pen body to the metal connections.  I pride myself on the quality I present in each and every pen.
