Orange Atlantic Poppy Papaver Atlanticum Poppy Seeds Grown in my Garden! Sweet Sun or Shade loving Perennial Poppy
Always freshly harvested for current year You can't get them any fresher than this. These seeds are fresh from my garden and are what is left after giving them to my friends to "Poppylate" the world! My seeds are home grown. Don't be fooled by sellers that are buying them at the grocery store and labeling them as home grown poppies just to make a sale. There are only about 3 sellers on ebay who grow their own seeds, and I am one of them. I have been selling my seeds on ebay since 1998*
Atlantic Poppies are a perennial. Meaning they come back every year from their own roots. The clump gets larger with each coming year. They love partial shade, but can grow in full shade and sun as well. The optimum planting time is in late summer when this plant is going to seed naturally. They will often germinate the same summer if in woodland moist conditions protected from summer sun. I normally sell only my annual growing Papaver Sominferum, but that is not all I grow. I decided to collect seeds from these plants this year and offer them up as well. They are such a nice looking plant with their bright orange faces that rise above their well behaved clump of low growing leaves. The look great planted in front of blue or purple hydrangeas. They look fabulous in rock gardens where they will grow in crevices and remain small. If grown in the open, the flowers reach about 18" tall. If you keep the spent flowers cut off this plant will bloom all summer long. Unfortunately, I neglected to take photos when they were all in bloom, but you can see from the seed pods that the flowers were plentiful.
My seeds are home grown. All of the photos are of my current garden or from the garden at my previous house.. I do not live on a growing farm or any farm for that matter.
The seeds germinate freely, and will give you seeds for years to come.Germination testing on this years seeds were a complete success. The problem with this is that you will have thousands of microscopic plants that a some point should be thinned. The best way to remedy this is to mix your seeds with sand and then sprinkle on the soil like Salt.I will send 1/16 teaspoon that is about 500 seeds. I'm not counting them, you can. I will include the planting instructions with every order. Don't worry, this is a lot of seeds for this plant and they can be quite prolific. It is nearly impossible to count out thousands of poppy seeds. I have NO idea how some people sell 50 or 100 seeds.
