Xanthan Gum

About the product:

Product Description:

Xanthan Gum is a fascinating food thickener that you can use for cooking and baking. It’s made by fermenting sugar with a special kind of bacteria.

Note that the resulting product is 100% vegan and keto-friendly. You can also use xanthan gum for baking gluten-free bread, cakes, and cookies. It will help your dough to get the necessary viscosity without gluten.

Xanthan gum powder is often compared to and even confused with guar gum. But they are quite different as guar gum is made from a plant.

Therefore, while guar gum is the right choice for thickening cold soups and sauces, xanthan gum is best for bread, stews, and hot soups. It would be best if you also used only xanthan gum for any recipes that include citrus fruits.

Xanthan Gum Uses and Storage Guide

You can use xanthan gum for baking either on its own or by mixing it with guar gum. This product has no taste, so the flavor of your bread, cakes, or cookies won’t be affected. You’ll need to use 1 tsp of xanthan gum powder per cup of flour when baking cakes. For bread, use 2 tsp per cup. But remember that other ingredients will affect the viscosity. Therefore, it’s best to experiment with the product until you work out the perfect proportions for your recipes.

It’s the same if you use xanthan gum powder for thickening sauces, stews, or soups. You’ll need to add it bit by tiny bit to get the exact consistency you want.

If you plan to start mastering xanthan gum, buy it in bulk. It will keep for many years if you manage to keep it dry. Divide the contents of the bulk package between several airtight containers and open them one at a time. Please keep them in a dry place.
