This opera glasses is probably among the early ones produced by the company Le Maire FI Paris. The centrally mounted post handle, the barrels, & the eye cups are inlaid with rich lustrous nacre, cut to fit tightly to cover most of the gilt metal body. This is a fine piece of personal accessory, and a  beautiful cultural instrument. There are several markings: on the right eye cup,  LE MAIRE FI PARIS. Marks on the brace closest to the eye cups:  on the left side, the number 15508; on the  right, Made in France. Marks on the middle brace: on the left side, around the Bee company logo, the number 539006 Pat May 7 (18)95; and on the right, around the capital letter K, the number 26B112 Pat Nov 28 (18)89.  Measured in the middle with the handle, the piece is 5 3/4" long & 3 3/4" wide. The barrels extend from 6 1/2 cms to 7 1/2 cms.
Condition:  loss of the black  paint around the objective lens; tarnish on the gilt metal; lenses need cleaning.
The handle of this opera glasses is mounted in the middle; this provides a more steady hold better than the side handle of later models. Also there is a focusing thumbwheel on the handle as well as between the barrels. The 2 are mechanically connected.  Please examine photos closely.
