Really nice old lithograph print with a classic look.  Fashioned after Frank Paton's famous "Puss in Boots" from 1880, but not sure who the printer or publisher of this print was.  We found a few old etched prints in black and white and a few other lithographs, but none exactly like this with information pertaining to the publisher or printer.  Likewise, we are not sure of the exact age of the print, but it's likely around 1900 give or take a few years.  This was professionally framed in the late 1940's to mid 1950's based on the phone number noted on the print shop sticker on the back of frame.  They were still using the old call letter system (JA) and a phone number which stopped being used after the mid 1950's in most places.

We took multiple pictures for your consideration and in a few different light settings to try and capture a full feel for the print.  It looks terrific with soft brown tones.  There is some ink discoloring towards the outer portions of print, but it really does not effect the item's appeal.  It almost blends into the muted background colors.  My wife even thought it was part of the print itself, but to me, it looks like old water (moisture) marks perhaps, but not 100% sure.  Whatever it is, it would have been present prior to the professional framing in the 1950's as the prints frame's paper backing and the frame itself are in terrific shape.  The"PUSS IN BOOTS." label on the bottom of print appears to be have been applied and not part of the print and may have been part of a larger original print, but that is a guess.

The painter Frank Paton (from whom this print was produced) was a gifted British artist specializing in animal and rural setting works in the later 1800's to early 1900's before passing in 1909.  His works did well commercially as post cards, Holidays cards and other.  He exhibited at the Royal Academy from his early 20's and for several years beyond and was admired by Queen Victoria before her passing.  Much more can be found on Paton with a simple on line search.  "Puss in Boots" was credited as one of his most famous works.
