follow the steps below for your particular machine. This can only be
carried out on YOUR console.

For PS4:
1. Connect your external hard drive to the Playstation using the USB cable.
2. Go to settings, then devices, then it will come up with external storage as one of the options.
3. Select extended storage and tell the Playstation to format it (just follow the prompts)
It will then come up with a message saying it's ready.
For XBox One:
1. Connect your external hard drive to an Xbox One USB port. An on-screen pop up will display.
2. Select Format storage device
3. Enter a name for the drive using the on-screen keyboard
4. Select Install new things here to automatically install future games on this drive.
5. Select Format storage device.
If
you are not sure about this item you need then please confirm before
purchasing so we can get you the correct part. In a situation where the
color requested is not available, we may ask you to choose an
alternative color.

*NOTE REGARDING XBOX S and X -The XBox S and X series consoles will play Original, Xbox 360 or Xbox One games and they can be stored on an external USB hard drive.
However, Xbox Series X and S games can only be stored on an SSD, and not on an external usb hard drive.
So,
if you are playing Original, 360 or XBox One games on the S/X series
console, you can store the data on an external USB drive.
But if you are playing an S/X series game, you will not be able to store the data on an external USB drive.
