Kato N Scale ~ Woodland Scenics Subterrain T-Trak Module Kit w/ Unitrack Straight

These special T-Trak module kits are made by Woodland using their SubTerrain Lightweight Layout System! Each SubTerrain T-Trak kit is made from lightweight, sculpt-able foam with wooden reinforcements that make them easy to assemble, transport, and shape into your desired form! Included in each set are a variety of sculpting aides, like a Woodland Shaper Sheet and sculpting plaster, as well as all the tools you need to assemble the completed module kit – even glue, and of course, Kato UNITRACK!

Modules are available in Straight and Corner variations, and are designed to T-Trak standards to allow multiple modules to snap together using the power of Katos Uni-Joiners. Thanks to the standardized dimensions, these kits can be connected to any existing of future T-Trak modules, whether they re built using these kits or not!

Pictured to the left is a sample of a Straight T-Trak module, with some sections already carved out using a hot-wire cutter. One of the big advantages of using the SubTerrain foam system is that it allows building not scenery not only above but also below the level of the track – a difficult venture using an all-wood structure.

Shown here is the final product – with a hill area built upward using Woodland’s Shaper Sheet and a river section carved out below. This type of module can be easily built by modelers of any skill level thanks to the easily worked materials! By combining easy to assemble and sculpt terrain tools with the reliability of Kato UNITRACK, Kato and Woodland have made a modular kit system that can be enjoyed by anyone, whether it’s during the building, painting, and decorating process, or during operation when combining multiple modules into a decorated layout!

Instruction Sheet

These T-Trak module kits come unassembled and will need to be put together. They include most materials needed for assembly and do include Kato UNITRACK, but other tools such as glue, a hot wire cutter, screwdriver, and brushes (for applying plaster) will assist with assembly and decoration. See the instructions for details.

MODULE SIZE

1) Straight Modules - Module construction techniques and materials are at the owner’s option. Module length is in multiples of 310mm. The module frame should be 2-4 mm shorter than the desired track length to ensure a secure connection at the module interface. Module depth is at the discretion of the modeler. However, recommended depths include 8 1/4” and 12 1/8” with a maximum depth of 14 3/8”. Note: the modeler may choose to build a full-depth module (28 13/16”) or any combination of complementary partner modules that total up to the full depth. An example would be to construct one module 24 1/2" and a complementary partner module 4” deep as illustrated in the diagram below.

2) Corner modules - Module construction techniques and materials are at the owner’s option. Corners (90 degree curve) are 14-3/8 square. One piece corners (180 degree curve, aka a horseshoe corner) in lieu of using two standard corners are allowed as long as track placement is consistent with two 14 3/8” corners. Track placement for all corners is to match community track placement on a straight module

MODULE HEIGHT

The module frames should have a nominal height of 2-3/4" and must be adjustable to 4".
