Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E major, WAB 107, is one of his best-known symphonies. It was written between 1881 and 1883 and was revised in 1885. It is dedicated to Ludwig II of Bavaria. The premiere, given under Arthur Nikisch and the Gewandhaus Orchestra in the opera house at Leipzig on 30 December 1884,[1] brought Bruckner the greatest success he had known in his life. The symphony is sometimes referred to as the "Lyric", though the appellation is not the composer's own, and is seldom used.

In the article "The 20 Greatest Symphonies of all time" from BBC Music Magazine, this symphony is placed at the 20th position. Bruckner also holds the 13th place with Symphony No. 8.[2]

–Serge Prokofieff* Klaviersonate Nr. 6 A-dur Op. 82
1. Allegro Moderato
2. Allegretto
3. Tempo Di Valzer Lentissimo
4. Vivace

Out of the over 100 available recordings of Ravel's Gaspard de le nuit this must be one of the finest. If this was Ravel's idea of a bad dream I'll take it. It easily ranks with the most beautiful music I know. I have the estimable Vlado Perlmuter's complete recording of Ravel's music, recorded when the pianist was in his eighties and it's a marvel. Martha Argerich's recording is still a wonder. Haven't heard Ashkenazy or any others. Pogorelich may be an artist with the courage to do what he feels is right despite composer's markings and that makes for an interesting listen. I know both the Ravel and the Prokofiev rather well and haven't noticed anything amiss. Pogorelich plays with both great power and amazing delicacy. If you don't know the Prokofiev sonatas, explore them and you will be amply rewarded. I love this recording. Very highly recommended.

Symphonie fantastique: Épisode de la vie d'un artiste … en cinq parties (Fantastical Symphony: Episode in the Life of an Artist … in Five Sections) Op. 14, is a program symphony written by the French composer Hector Berlioz in 1830. It is an important piece of the early Romantic period. The first performance was at the Paris Conservatoire on 5 December 1830. Franz Liszt made a piano transcription of the symphony in 1833 (S. 470).

Leonard Bernstein described the symphony as the first musical expedition into psychedelia because of its hallucinatory and dream-like nature, and because history suggests Berlioz composed at least a portion of it under the influence of opium. According to Bernstein, "Berlioz tells it like it is. You take a trip, you wind up screaming at your own funeral."

In 1831, Berlioz wrote a lesser-known sequel to the work, Lélio, for actor, soloists, chorus, piano and orchestra.

Symphony No. 2, Op. 19 is a three-movement work for orchestra by the American composer Samuel Barber. The 25-minute work was originally written in 1944. The work underwent many revisions and was finally published in 1950. The original manuscript was withdrawn by Barber in 1964. He ordered that G. Schirmer destroy the original manuscript and all scores in their library. The work remained unpublished for many years until 1984 when a set of parts turned up in a warehouse in England. Renewed interest in Barber's work led to a 1990 reprint of the 1950 edition.

The approach to Orff’s multifaceted score here is unbuttoned, comedic, massive and brutal, yet also subtle and sensitive. The huge performing apparatus makes its presence felt, but within the instrumental sections the sound has transparency and pinpointed definition.
