THE WRITER:
MILTON WALDMAN
Milton Waldman. a writer, editor and publisher who specialized in Renaissance biographies, died last Saturday in a London hospital. He was 80 years old.
A native of Cleveland, Mr. Waldman had made his home in London for more than 45 years. He had been a literary adviser for 27 years with William Collins Sons & Company, the publishing house, of which he had also been director.
His popular biographies included three about Elizabeth I—”England's Elizabeth,” published in 1933; “Elizabeth and Leicester” (1944), which stressed the longtime importance of the Earl of Leicester in the monarch's reign, and “Queen Elizabeth,” (1952), part of a “Brief Lives” series of great men and women in British and American history.
