A rare, superb old English certified violin bow made by John Dodd ca. 1850, branded on the stick above the frog. John Dodd was a superb English master. His work is very personal and classy, elegant and precise.  Bows made by this great master are known for their excellent tonal quality and equally fine handling. 
This is a superb examples in pristine, collector's state of preservation, all original including head plate and pearl inlay. It is also a FIRST CLASS, magnificently sounding playing bow comparable with finest French bows of the period
The stick is medium brown pernambuco, octagonal, strong with a perfect flexibility, fine handling and top level sound. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The length of the stick is 71.8 cm and the weight of the bow is 55.2 with very light tinsel winding.
